Ford Slated to Invest $1.2 Billion in Detroit Suburb
Home to over 30,000 Ford employees, the world headquarters and about 70 supporting buildings belonging to the Ford Motor Company are slated to undergo a massive renovation in the next ten years. Announced about a year following the announcement by General Motors of their plans to invest $1 Billion into a nearby Metro Detroit suburb, this news has many residents and business owners of the area very excited for the future. The announcement by Ford represents the first major overhaul to their facilities since the original construction. Over 7.5 million square feet of new workspace is to be developed, and will have the ability to accommodate 12,000 new employees. All buildings will follow a general theme of modernity and will be environmentally friendly—some buildings will have the capacity to generate renewable energy from the sun, which will be more power than they require for use.
